The challenge

A grant, a tight deadline, and no design foundation

Uniswap is a DeFi protocol that has processed $2.75 trillion in trading volume on v2 and v3 of their protocol. They had just shipped v4 with a new primitive called “hooks” that let developers customize the protocol to their own needs. To accelerate adoption, Atrium Academy received a grant to create the Uniswap Hook Incubator, an initiative to onboard developers and build with these new primitives.

But while the team had strong developers, educators, and community builders, they lacked design expertise, brand assets, and a visual identity. They needed someone to take full creative ownership, and do it fast.

When Atrium approached Tribe, they were operating on a tight grant budget, a 3-person core team, and an urgent deadline. They needed a partner who could:

  • Research the crypto ecosystem and developer audience independently

  • Move fast without heavy management

  • Ship a launch-ready site with minimal feedback loops.

I had poor experiences working with designers/agencies who felt slow, flaky, overcomplicated (ie. designing for designers), or needed too much hand-holding.

When I met with Yarik, our first conversation felt almost too good to be true. He promised incredible speed at an affordable price with little to no overhead outside of feedback loops.

The “Uniswap Hook Incubator” landing page helped Atrium establish a strong visual identity. They were ready to promote the page to prospective developers, their Uniswap partners, and other key stakeholders.

Tribe became their embedded design team, responsible for:

  • Brand systems and marketing design

  • UI/UX for new programs and internal tools

  • Ongoing creative support for program launches

It wasn’t obvious, though, that Atrium wasn’t tied to Uniswap and was open for other business. Their homepage even redirected to /uniswap. There was no “Atrium” brand, only a “UHI” (Uniswap Hook Incubator) brand.

To fix this, Tribe developed a full Atrium brand identity, complete with a new logo, graphic system, homepage, and partner pages. The new brand gave Atrium a real voice of its own and opened doors to new partnerships.
